Counties 2024 Success - Head Coach Report

The last weekend of January and first weekend of February saw competitive swimmers from all over Cornwall racing at the Penzance and Bodmin pools in the 2024 Cornish County Amateur Swimming Association championships.

Newquay Cormorants were one of nine clubs that entered swimmers and we enjoyed some fantastic results. Almost every swimmer recorded multiple personal best times in their various races with a number of swimmers posting times at the sharp end of the British Rankings.

Overall our results tallied up to:

  • 🥇 49 gold medals
  • 🥈 33 silver medals
  • 🥉 29 bronze medals

These were secured cross the two weekends. We finished with 10 individual County Champions and Cormorants now have 13 swimmers that have achieved qualifying times for the South West Regional Championships held at Plymouth, Millfield School and Bristol in April and May.

Our top performance swimmers are now moving into a phase of long course racing in 50 metre pools to prepare for the Regional Championships and hopefully record some times that will earn qualification to the National Championships in the summer.
