On Saturday 18th January 2020, a strong Newquay Cormorants team entered Division 1 of the Junior Inter-County Club Championship. Newquay Cormorants came out victorious and are now Diddy League and Junior Inter-Club Champions!

The format of this championship was similar to the recent Diddy League, which the Cormorants won. The team consisted of swimmers aged 9-12 years old, and each race counted towards the team total. This event was, however, a step up in standard compared to the Diddy League, with Regional standard swimmers allowed into teams, something not permitted in the Diddy League.

Despite this step up in standard, Newquay Cormorants dominated the event from the start. They came out winners by almost 50 points! The final points tally was:

  • 1st – Newquay Cormorants – 196 points
  • 2nd – CBHSC – 147 points
  • 3rd – Truro City – 141 points
  • 4th – St Ives Bay – 113 Points
  • 5th – St Austell Sharks – 90 points

Well done to all swimmers who took part with some incredible swims and a superb team spirit on show. This now makes the Newquay Cormorants Diddy League and Junior Inter-Club Champions, cementing our place as one of the South West’s leading swim clubs.

A huge thank you to all those who helped poolside, and massive credit must go to our fantastic coaching team who are clearly doing fabulous work with our swimmers. Finally, a special must go to Sue for organising the team.

Well done Cormorants!
